Slough Children and Young People's Cabinet

Current members of the Children and Young Peoples Cabinet have been elected through their school councils, with two young people representing each of Slough?s secondary schools. The role of each cabinet member is to ensure that all children and young people across Slough are represented in democratic decision making processes, especially when it comes to services that affect young people directly.

Formal meetings are held twice a term, often with councillors and directors, to discuss issues and services affecting young people. At the formal meeting, guest speakers come along to talk to the cabinet members about their service and what they have to offer the children and young people of Slough.

Below are some examples of projects and consultations the youth cabinet have been involved in over the past year:

  • Creating the name of this website!
  • Deciding the final choice of graphics for the SloughforYOUth logo
  • Hosting and launching Slough's 2008-2011 Children?s Plan
  • Launched the new Children?s Trust website
  • Participating in a photo shoot for the 'Proud to be Slough' Campaign
  • Gave feedback on the designs for Slough's new Youth Bus
  • Gave views and opinions on the Slough's Obesity Strategy
  • Some of the cabinet members are part of the Youth Opportunity Fund decision making group
  • Several members represent the cabinet at important steering groups and service meetings including the 'Youth Offer' member group and the Climate Change Delivery Group.
  • Cabinet members have lots more projects coming up in the near future!!!
